Kelly Flavell LLB
Happily describing himself as a General Legal Practitioner, Kelly brings more than 45 years of experience as a lawyer to bear on day to day legal issues.
Self employed since 1975, Kelly has had offices in Papatoetoe, Remuera and Auckland City and during the last 18 years he has been very cheerfully engaged in looking after the many and varied people living in the Eastern Suburbs.
Kelly’s focus is on helping people to help themselves by the provision of practical, down-to-earth legal advice.
Kelly also believes in fair and open pricing, particularly in the property market.
Bringing together the skill and wisdom acquired as a lawyer, Kelly used his communication skills as a broadcaster, providing legal advice on Radio Pacific and NewsTalkZB.
Kelly’s community involvement has seen him taking on a number of responsibilities, firstly as a Papatoetoe City Councillor and as Works Committee Chairman of that Council, and variously as Vice President of the Auckland Swimming Association and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Bucklands Beach Primary School.
The combination of lawyer, broadcaster and community leader provides Kelly’s clients with a unique blend of communication skills.
Outside of working hours Kelly enjoys travel, music, concerts, reading and being a grandfather.
Dejana Manic BA LLB
Dejana Manić, originally from Croatia, graduated at Auckland University and worked at a boutique law firm for 5 years, before joining the team at Kelly Flavell Law, 6 1/2 years ago.
Dejana is passionate about property law and her principle area of practice includes: Residential and Commercial Conveyancing; Relationship Property Issues; Family Trusts; and Wills & Estate Planning.
Dejana has an approachable demeanour and values the personal contact she has with her clients. She is committed to providing practical and straight forward legal advice to her clients.
Outside work, Dejana enjoys travelling, spending time with friends and family and she is an enthusiastic animal lover.
Andrew Lin LLB BMS
Barrister & Solicitor
Andrew holds a degree in Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Management studies. Andrew previously worked for a busy metropolitan law firm in Auckland Central. Since joining the team at Kelly Flavell Law, Andrew has enjoyed focusing on the legal needs of the local Chinese community in Howick and the surrounding areas.
Andrew brings on board wide-ranging experience in property, commercial, matrimonial, civil, immigration and trust work.
He has great interest in assisting people and in the past regularly participated in volunteer community work.
Andrew is fluent in both written and spoken Mandarin.
After hours, he is an avid fisherman, outdoor junkie and a keen golfer endeavouring to sharpen up his game.
Lizzy Li LLB, BCom LLM
Barrister & Solicitor
Lizzy Li is originally from China. Lizzy graduated from Auckland University with Bachelor of Law (LLB), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and Master of Laws (LLM). She was admitted as Barrister and Solicitor of High Court of New Zealand in 2009.
Having previously worked as a solicitor in a law firm in East Auckland from 2011, Lizzy specialises in Business, Property and Trust. With six years’ experience of practicing law in Auckland, she is well equipped to continue the work of Kelly Flavell Law’s general practice.
Lizzy is fluent in English and Mandarin. She communicates effectively with client and is always focusing on fulfilling their expectations.
When not working Lizzy plays badminton and she enjoys travelling with her family.
Cathy Chiang BECom
Cathy graduated from The University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Electronic Commerce and joined Kelly Flavell Law in 2016 as Legal Assistant to Lizzy Li and to provide general support to the Conveyancing team.
Cathy has had ten years experience working for another Law Firm in East Auckland and she is fluent in English and Mandarin.
Cathy lives locally with her family and enjoys baking, photography, travelling and spending time with family and friends, she will be on maternity leave until October 2017.
Kit Ying Fowler BA NZILE
Registered Legal Executive
After a business career in Hong Kong, Kit Ying migrated to New Zealand in 1990 where she studied at Victoria University in Wellington.
She relocated to Auckland in 2000 and was employed by an inner city legal firm where she completed her qualification as a Legal Executive.
A native speaker of Cantonese, Kit Ying is also fluent in Mandarin and can read and write Chinese.
She has many years experience in conveyancing, and the leasing, buying and selling of businesses, along with the formation of family trusts.
She is a good listener and enjoys meeting with and helping people.
Kit Ying is a keen golfer and enjoys walking and gardening.
Cathy is a Legal Assistant and has worked at Kelly Flavell Law for 16 years. She was previously the Pathogen Laboratory Manager at a private medical laboratory.
Cathy primarily assists Kelly with residential conveyancing but is also experienced in the day to day administration of the Trust Account.
Cathy values being a team member and aims to assist the clients towards the successful conclusion of one of the major “life events” (buying or selling of a home) with a minimum of stress and a maximum of service.
When not at work she is a keen fisherwoman who enjoys boating with Kelly and together they travel overseas experiencing different cultures and cuisines.
Joy has worked at Kelly Flavell Law for twelve years as Receptionist answering the telephone, greeting clients and assisting with general enquiries.
Joy assists in the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney for clients, and assists Kelly when necessary with dictation and letter writing.
Possessing an extensive knowledge of Kelly’s data base and clients, Joy excels at remembering individuals’ names, and what work is or has been done for them.
Joy has lived in Howick for sixteen years and enjoys gardening, cooking and spending time with her 3 grandchildren.
Cassandra holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and joined the team at Kelly Flavell Law in 2018. Cassandra was admitted as a Solicitor in October 2019 and primarily assists Dejana Manić in the areas of Residential and Commercial Conveyancing; Relationship Property Issues; Family Trusts; and Wills & Estate Planning.
Cassandra chose to study law as she enjoys problem-solving and has an eye for detail.
Cassandra takes pride in her communication skills with her clients and strives to provide the best service at all times.
When not at work Cassandra enjoys reading a good book, going on bush walks, and travelling.
